GlosGOG exists as an informal ‘group’ of O gauge railway modellers, with wide diverse interests and skills based around the 7mm scale. Run on a ‘not for profit’ basis, we are simply a small number of individuals, currently around 50, with a common interest; we now meet monthly at a variety of venues based in Gloucestershire to share that mutual interest, exchange ideas, knowledge and expertise in various ways. Our Membership is drawn from a wide geographical area not limited by any county boundary.
Formed over 30 years ago, we have, based on mutual respect, developed an established ‘meeting’ format style, whereby we aim to provide a relaxed environment so we can enjoy our hobby and share that enjoyment socially with others.
We have no ‘club’ premises, relying on the hire of venues for ‘Open’ meetings, Test Tracks being available for the running of stock. Potential new members are welcome to attend these meetings (see Event section) to see if you like what we do. ‘Open’ meetings are ‘all day’ events with lunch and refreshments available (at very reasonable prices!)
Invitations to member’s garden railways conclude the summer season with our ‘Closed’ events these are restricted to members only and or guests of the host.
Our main annual event is the ‘Hardwicke Meeting’ a traditional small O gauge show, open to the public, with layouts, traders, bring and buy stand, Test track and light refreshments.
Management formality is kept to a minimum, a style that has allowed us to meander our way through the last thirty years without too much fuss, an annual AGM held in October elects officers, reviews finances and sets membership rates for the form coming year ( See Membership rates or AGM report)
GlosBlog is a new venue, our ‘notice board’ upon which you can exchange news, views and knowledge with fellow members. Members can also place sales and wants ads on the site. Let’s see how it develops. If you are not already a member and would like to join, come along for a chat or email us on the link.
Thanks for reading.
